Shang dynasty, jade plaque with spirit’s face motif, H. 4cm, W. 4.5cm
The pentagon shape plaque is made white jade with the motif low relief spirit face. The curling hair on both sides are beautifully exaggerated. The diamon shape above the nose may be transfored from the shild shape which is typical motif of the Shang artifact. The archaic evidences of differential weathering, cleaving veins and exposed crystal plane are clear.
